So where have I been? Life has been rather busy lately. Mostly, I’ve been spending most of my non-Beacon time enjoying being a dad and a husband. While the computer was down, I found myself not wanting to use Kat’s computer as much… don’t really know why except to say that it wasn’t my usual computer, and I am a creature of habit.
And then I got out of the habit of blogging, and it really is a habit that you have to cultivate, so that’s my new pledge… get back to writing something — usually about education — every day. This blog has been about a million different things, but I find that I enjoy it most when I write about education (or Jakob.) That’s not to say that I won’t write about baseball or politics, but I also want to force myself to start putting my pedagogy into words more often.
Anyway… I’m back.
So… got in last night and went to check my email. My nifty 11 month old Powerbook decided not to come back from sleep. I rebooted.
Nothing.
Spent about six hours trying to get it to boot.
Nothing.
Took it to TekServe, the Mac speciality place downtown… they mentioned the words "Data Recovery" and "Crashed Hard Drive" and "Eight hundred dollars."
Gave them my credit card.
Went out to my car.
Didn’t start.
Called AAA.
It started to POUR.
AAA came.
My car started without the jump… after getting soaked talking to the AAA guy.
Went home.
Took an hour to go from 23rd St. to 181st.
Grumpy.
