This was my speech to open graduation ceremonies as MC today:
Parents, family and friends and the graduating class of the Beacon School 2004, welcome
Today is a day of celebration, both individually and as a group. Soon, you will all go off to your luncheons with your families and celebration your individual accomplishments, but one last time, you get to celebrate together as members of the Beacon community as members of the class of 2004.

So… as you can see… a good time was had by all for Jakob’s first Father’s Day. My Dad got a brand spanking new grill… and Liz and Todd brought Whitehouse Sub hoagies back from Atlantic City for all. More pictures from the event are here.
Was it strange to celebrate Father’s Day from the other side? Not really. I was asked if it feels strange to be a dad at all, and honestly, it doesn’t. It really just feels right. Part of it is that I think I’ve been trying on this role for a long time with kids at Beacon, and now it just feels good with Jakob.
