Jeff Danziger’s scathing indictment of GOP election strategy.
I have nothing to add.
A View From the Schoolhouse
So blogging has been light ever since school started… and I’ve been pretty light on long entries for a while now. There are a few reasons:
1) Like Jessie says, the political world just has me sad lately. I cannot believe the way this election season is going. It’s ugly and dirty and so far away from what I believe to be really happening in the world as to be a truly absurdist campaign. Kat and I finally saw Fahrenheit 9/11 today, and as we were walking out, Kat said, "Bush makes me embarassed to be an American." There’s a longer post there, but for now, that’ll do.
2) Beacon has been keeping me insanely busy. I’m in a new position at Beacon this year — more on that later too — but it means fielding more calls from home, doing more administrative work, and generally making life a lot busier.
3) I am trying to spend a little less time online. Call me crazy and all, but when school comes back into session, and I suddenly have much less unstructured time, I get a bit more selfish about how I spend that time. So I’ve been biking and playing basketball and seeing friends and family a lot in my off-time this week. (Shana Tova to all, by the way!)
But… I’ve also missed blogging, interestingly enough. There are a lot of posts I’ve got mulling around in my head, from politics to Beacon / education to fatherhood… so I’m going to try to get back into the habit of trying to get a blog entry in every day.
… and I know this. But it still bothers me that Rich Eisen — who I assume is still working for ESPN — is in a Coors Light commercial. Sure, a sports journalist is a long way from Walter Cronkite, but still… it would be nice if there was some vague sense of propiety on the part of the ESPN anchors. Do they have to sell themselves out to any corporate sponsor willing to sign a big check?
