Fifty-five students, parents and teachers from the Beacon School, my old school, are spending their spring break in New Orleans helping to rebuild houses and schools that were destroyed during Hurricane Katrina. It’s the kind of experience that makes Beacon such an amazing place for students and teachers. And the local CBS affiliate has done a really good story about the experience.
When we talk about schools and schooling as a transformative experience for all involved, this is the kind of school we’re talking about. Students can be change agents in our world. The Beacon kids are proving it this week.
