It worries me that schools are going to be held accountable for
how much science students learn,
and
not how much like scientists students learn to become.
When will the politicians learn that jamming as much rote information into kids’ heads isn’t the point of education. It’s about teaching kids to think and learn for themselves?
I really do think that, over the 100 year experiment that is public education in this country, this is the worst time to be a teacher or student in this country. Certainly, there are amazing things going on, but I hate thinking that they are happening in spite of the direction our government is taking education rather than because of it. But all evidence does point to that.
