I would not recommend trying to do a start-up furniture and equipment order the same week you are moving into a new house.

Today:
8:00 – closing proceedings start.
10:30 – closing proceedings end. Own new home in Philly (yay!)
10:45 – back in office going over F & E order so far.
12:00 – at SDP offices for meeting with school planning folks and furniture vendors to finalize many decisions
6:30 – Finish meeting. Go back to office and friend’s house to pick up stuff.
7:10 – check on house to see if workmen finished all the final little pieces
7:15 – realize "little piece" that isn’t done includes installing the washer, dryer and refrigerator.
7:45 – get on the road back to NYC.
10:00 – get home. hang out with wife for a little while.
10:45 – go over notes from the day to try to make some sense of what happen. Try not to conflate home and school. (O.k. — 32 chairs go into the living room… and the washer and dryer goes into the science lab. Waitaminute…)
11:30 – realize I was neglecting the blog and decide to make an attempt a vaguely humorous update on life / school planning.
11:35 – get some sleep before the movers come in the morning.

Anyway, the movers come tomorrow. We move into the new place on Thursday. My F & E order is due on Friday. Not recommended, but I will be thrilled to have Kat and Jakob in the same city as me on a permanent basis. If you are going to attempt to start a school, allow me to suggest that having the people you love most in this world around you as you move forward is an essential part of the plan.

Oh… and so’s keeping a really good timeline of deadlines and life events. That’s a big one. Trust me.
