My old friend and former Beacon colleague, Mike Lupinacci, is running for State Assembly on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. This is for Assembly District 67 which is being vacated as Scott Stringer moves on to Manhattan Borough President.

Mike’s number one issue is education. He’s taught. He’s been an administrator. He is committed to New York City schools. I’ve known him for a decade now, and he is one of the most passionate people I know about education reform, both on the school and on the systemic level. He will be a powerful advocate for New York City schools. He also powerfully "gets" what technology can do to change education (and politics.) He has just started his campaign blog, and I’m sure he’s going to have a lot to say there.

Go — read his issue statements. Read his blog entries. Volunteer or donate if you can. We need people like Mike to fight for school reform in the political arena.
