From Will, comes a post from Jim Horn called The Education Reformation of NCLB and the Crusade to Kill Public Schools. It’s a pointed look at NCLB in a historical context that makes it rather hard to deny that NCLB has one goal — to end the public schooling experiment in America. It’s a controversial position, to be sure, but I tend to agree that any piece of legislation that will end with punishing schools and districts that can get 100% of its kids to pass a set of high-stakes standardized tests was either written with utter naievete and complete lack of understanding of statistics and psychometrics or with an ulterior motive. Take your pick.
