So it’s 10:46 and I’ve got some papers I need to grade before I go to sleep tonight. Today was the last day off until we’re off for the summer. Beacon’s graduation is June 23rd, so we’ve got a long month to go. There are two weeks of classes and two weeks of assessments to go.

Moreso than in other years, I’m ready for this year to be over. It’s been a stressful year as I’ve had to learn a few thousand new things this year, both about my job and about myself. Moving into a more administrative role has meant that I’ve had to move out of my comfort zone and take on tons of new responsibilities. In many respects, I think I’ve done pretty well for a first year on the job. But I do think that I’ve got that qualifier on it. I expect more from myself next year. And now that I have a sense of the job, I actually have a number of things I want to work on this summer to make next year better for the school (and myself), but they are the kind of things that are a lot easier to think about and plan for when there aren’t a thousand or so kids who need taking care of.
