Sure, that title falls into the "Duh, Barbie" category, but sometimes it needs to be said. Beacon Girls Basketball has had a rough go of it so far this season. We’ve lost in overtime to Stuy, we’ve lost a close game to Martin Luther King, and last week, we lost a heartbreaker to Thurgood Marshall. Now, after some very tough loses, nothing is better than winning going away in a game where you get to play everyone.
Right now, we’re winning ugly. We shot only 22% tonight, but our defense is beginning to look better, and we’re boxing out better and better. But most importantly, we won the fourth quarter today for the first time all season long. Yes, we should win the fourth against Bread and Roses, but we have had our moments where we didn’t do what we should all season long. But we’re starting to trust each other more… hit the open pass… swing the ball… so that we can close teams out with our execution, not our "great plays."
But best of all, we got to walk off the court feeling good about the way we played, and that’s a great way to go into practice tomorrow.
