Go watch the video… it’s a really wonderful, rousing tribute to Kerry.

And I cannot wait to vote tomorrow. I’m going first thing in the morning. I’ve given money — I’ve made phone bank calls — I’ve argued until I was blue in the face, and now I get to go pull the lever for Kerry. I really believe that the momentum we have seen for Kerry is a movement against tyranny. I believe, in my heart of hearts, that at the highest levels of the Bush administration, these people are not concerned with democracy, only power. Tomorrow, we get to rise up and vote and remind ourselves that this is a nation of the people, for the people, and we get to decide who speaks for us on the world stage.

But… it is just as important that this movement does not end on November 2nd. We have to keep taking back our country from the corporations, from the people who would divide us, from those who refuse to believe in the best we all can be. This must be the start of a long-dormant movement, not the end.

I’ve been singing this song to Jakob more and more lately… I sang him to sleep with it tonight, and I will again tomorrow night and for many nights to come:

THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND
words and music by Woody Guthrie

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

As I was walking a ribbon of highway
I saw above me an endless skyway
I saw below me a golden valley
This land was made for you and me

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

I’ve roamed and rambled and I’ve followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

The sun comes shining as I was strolling
The wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
The fog was lifting a voice come chanting
This land was made for you and me

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

As I was walkin’ – I saw a sign there
And that sign said – no tress passin’
But on the other side …. it didn’t say nothin!
Now that side was made for you and me!

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

In the squares of the city – In the shadow of the steeple
Near the relief office – I see my people
And some are grumblin’ and some are wonderin’
If this land’s still made for you and me.

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me
