Twenty-nine days until Beacon leaves for Oregon. We’ve raised $1400 of the $11000 we want to raise. That makes me nervous, but hey… we’ll get there somehow. (Anyone out there who wants to donate, hey… email me!)
More importantly, the team is starting to really click. We beat Fieldston 15-0 today, and while Fieldston is not a very good team, they are coached… and they have some talent. And we just didn’t let them think they could play with us. We were up 3-0 in about five minutes, and we never looked back. And it’s everyone stepping up and playing well. Our young players are playing better and better which just helps our depth. Even in our biggest games, we’re going to put most of our players on the field. That’s huge, because in tournaments, you need depth to still have the energy to win in the finals.
I’m interested to see how we do this weekend against top talent. To win this tourney, we’re going to have to go 4-0 against all very good teams. Can we do the things we’ve done against other teams against the best teams? Will we have the patience? The extended cuts? The willingness to call our end-zone plays?
If we can win this weekend, we’ll deserve our top ten ranking.
