This article says that a recent Gallop poll shows that 59% of Americans think that teachers are not paid enough, and to directly quote the article:
"Sixty-one percent of those polled thought their school system had a hard time getting good teachers, and two-thirds said it was difficult to retain such teachers."
I know I agree.. I’m lucky in that I am, for now, a DINK (double-income, no kids), and Kat and I live a nice lifestyle, but I’ve got good friends who are single and struggle to get by, and other friends are trying to raise a family in NYC on two teachers’ salaries. And they live life pretty much paycheck to paycheck, and that’s not right.
