For anyone who wanted to see what a six-toed foot looks like...
A quick update before I head to sleep...
Today was a good day for Theo -- the doctor wanted it to be a rest day with as few tests as possible, which we thought was a good idea. He's still on the ventilator and still sedated, but the pneumothorax seems to have cleared up completely, and if he keeps improving, they'll take the chest tube out tomorrow. Once the chest tube is out, he's going to be transfered to CHOP -- Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia. We were really thrilled by the care he got at Delaware County Memorial, but CHOP is so much closer to home and is the gold standard for children's medicine on the East Coast.
Kat came home from the hospital tonight, which is wonderful to have her home. Jakob is at my parents until tomorrow, and then we'll be that much closer to having the whole family back together.
I just wanted to take a moment to bring this back to the stuff that most folks read this blog for... technology and community. I've been posting and emailing about Theo, and the comments and emails that folks have sent along have been a huge comfort to Kat and me these past few days. We have an amazing community of friends and family who are scattered all over the globe, and the technology tools have allowed us to keep everyone informed and has allowed folks to reach out to us in wonderful ways.
And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that several of the folks we consider to be part of that community are edu-bloggers who I've only met in person a few times or haven't even met face to face yet. It's in moments like this that I am reminded of the power of this medium... and how the community we have created among the edu-bloggers is real and powerful and important in our lives.
Thanks to all... Kat and I are grateful for your presence in our lives.
